The Department of Microbiology and Plant Pathology's weekly Plant Pathology 250 seminar series is presented this week by Dr. Lindsay Triplett, Plant Bacteriologist, Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station.

Seminar Title: "It's rough outside the plant: Bacteria at the interface of antimicrobials and predators"

Abstract: In nature, plant pathogens encounter a slew of biotic, environmental, and chemical stressors before and during contact with hosts. In this seminar Dr. Lindsay Triplett will highlight how maintaining diverse physiological states helps bacterial pathogens survive both chemical and biological control methods, and how understanding the genetic mechanisms involved could inform disease management strategies. Dr. Triplett will also present new findings on how another important stressor, protist predation, can impact the composition, behavior, and ecology of plant-colonizing bacteria and affect plant health.
