The Department of Microbiology and Plant Pathology's weekly Plant Pathology 250 seminar series is presented this week by:

Itzel De Anda, Plant Pathology Graduate Student, UC Riverside. 

Seminar Title: "Friend or Foe: Investigating the Citrus Microbiota and Microbial Interactions"

Biography: Itzel is a second year graduate student in Dr. Caroline Roper’s Laboratory. Her research focuses on implementing germ-free citrus systems and synthetic communities to better understand microbe-microbe interactions and niche selection.

Stacey Comstock, Plant Pathology Graduate Student, UC Riverside. 

Seminar Title: "Enhanced production of disease-free citrus varieties using sustainable next generation indoor farming systems"

Biography: Stacey is a 2nd year PhD student in Dr. Vidalakis’s lab. Stacey graduated from Cal State San Marcos in 2020 with a B.S. in biotechnology where she worked on biolipid production in photosynthetic algae. Her current research focuses on viral symptomlogy in hydroponically grown citrus, with an emphasis on optimization of disease symptom expression in citrus diagnostics at the Citrus Clonal Protection Program.
