In local news, Dr. Vidalakis and Dr. Jin were recently quoted in an article by the Press Enterprise discussing how their research is helping combat the citrus greening disease that is impacting southern California. 

Dr. Vidalakis and his team are working to disrupt the "disease triangle" which prevents the elements that cause the disease from coming together. Work by Dr. Hailing Jin was also referenced in the article noting her contribution in aiding citrus plants by discovering antimicrobial peptides which help with disease control.
